AI is coming for my job — and yours. The latest OpenAI chatbot, ChatGPT4.0, is now able to do better than 90% of all aspiring lawyers on the Uniform Bar Exam (the standardized part of the bar exam), and even better on many other standardized tests.
These are mostly tests of general intelligence and reasoning ability, not tests of knowledge. So this demonstration of test taking prowess is a very significant step toward “advanced general intelligence” or AGI, the holy grail of AI.
AI is not only coming for your job, it is coming for your entire lifestyle and your entire set of values and your entire world.
The former version of ChatGPT was only able to score better than 10% of UBE test takers, so this is a truly dramatic rate of improvement, the sine qua non of an “exponential technology.”
We need a moratorium now, before the lid on Pandora’s box is entirely opened.
