New peer-reviewed research finds no physical basis for long Covid in most patients and the only strong correlations are female gender and a history of anxiety disorder
This is a tough message to hear but a lot of CDC “science” is, in the words of this UCSF epidemiologist, Dr. Vinay Prasad, “garbage.”
He pulls no punches in this video discussing a new paper published in the CDC’s MMWR journal, which is not peer reviewed by any outside reviewers.
The topic is “long Covid” and Dr. Prasad compares the CDC’s “garbage” research, which despite its obvious flaws , was reported on widely by our legacy media (which is all about making money for our corporate overlords by highlighting any possible bad news that further feeds the “fear factory) to another paper on “long Covid” published recently in the peer-reviewed and widely respected Annals of Internal Medicine.
The second paper found that the only reliable correlations behind alleged “long Covid” symptoms were two things: 1) more women than men reporting such symptoms; 2) a history of anxiety disorder.
The paper states: “Increased risk for [long Covid] was noted in women and those with a history of anxiety disorder.”
And: “Extensive diagnostic evaluation revealed no specific cause of reported symptoms in most cases.”
As Prasad describes in this video, the Annals paper looked at dozens of biomarkers to try to figure out if there was a physical basis for the reported symptoms and they found almost nothing — — except the factors just mentioned.
